e-GATE
With globalisation and economic independence on the rise, border control systems are confronted with new challenges brought by new environmental dynamics. Therefore, a good border control system in this new era needs to feature a mix of operational, structural and strategic capabilities that gives enough flexibility to remain relevant.
Dsonic e-Gate serves as a self-service, automatic border control system powered by biometric identification, which ensures secured and efficient border processing for travellers.
- Features an award-winning e-gate (Cybersecurity – Non-profit or Government Organizations Award at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2022).
- Received written recommendations from the Malaysian Government for their passport system and gate clearance solution in accordance to ICAO standards.
- Designed according to real-world requirements derived from daily operations and careful considerations from experienced users.
Integrated with the e-gate is our in-house facial recognition engine that incorporates the world’s first-tier biometric technology. Backed with Liveness Detection, our engine is highly secured against spoofing; it is able to distinguish between a person’s face and a spoof artifact, such as a photo. We employ data-driven evaluation criteria and development methodologies so that our e-Gate is continuously learning from real-world data, improving performance over time even after deployment.
We have implemented nationwide biometric autogates that come with both facial recognition and fingerprint technologies. Having spearheaded the adoption of facial recognition technology in the implementation of immigration border autogates, we received unprecedented, overwhelming and positive public response from all channels of feedback.
Our success stories of Dsonic e-gate:
- 20 lanes deployed at KLIA since 2018.
- 20 lanes deployed at KLIA 2 since 2020.
- 8 lanes deployed at Batam, Indonesia since 2019.
- 4 lanes of Bi-directional autogate Deployed at Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal since 2020.
- 22 lanes deployed at Malaysia-Singapore border (Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, JB Sentral & Sultan Abu Bakar Complex) since 2020.

Card Tracking System
Implementation of Card Lifecycle Management System (CLMS) and personalisation of cards automates tracking of smart card lifecycle – beginning from the receiving of the raw cards, initialisation, personalisation and issuance till the end-of-life stage when the cards are returned to the issuer.
Card Reader
The Datasonic Smart Reader not only features cutting-edge security technology, but also provides flexibility and convenience to meet the needs of any business and market needs. It incorporates both elements of security and functionality.
- Comes with card reading software development kit (SDK) – easy to integrate with other solutions.
- Supports the reading of the latest Enhanced Biometric Access (EBA), which requires mutual authentication; biometric info is not available for unauthorised readers.
- First standalone reader in the market with two (2) Secure Access Module (SAM) slots – a dual interface that supports EBA cryptographic processing a firmware level.
- Complies to “Protection Profile for Smart Card Reader with Biometric Protection” authorised by both the National Registration Department and Cybersecurity Malaysia.
